Before writing a line of code for CampusChain, Rich Dunlop spent six years working inside higher education as a case manager. In that role, he watched international students navigate a payment system that was expensive, slow, and opaque — wire transfers that disappeared for days, conversion fees that weren't disclosed until settlement, and no institutional visibility into where money was or when it would clear. The friction wasn't incidental. It was structural, and it fell hardest on the students who could least afford it.
As a former U.S. Army Specialist with hands-on experience in TCP/IP networking and cryptographic technology, Rich approaches platform security from a different vantage point than most SaaS founders. The architecture thinking behind CampusChain — hardware-level encryption, immutable audit logs, data sovereignty — is informed by the same principles that govern secure military communications: assume adversarial conditions, minimize trust surface, and build for auditability from day one.
Rich has studied blockchain technology independently since 2017 — through multiple market cycles, the DeFi expansion, the rise of institutional stablecoin infrastructure, and the emergence of enterprise-grade Layer 1 and Layer 2 networks.
